Where does painting think before it is born?

Not all painting begins in front of a canvas. Many are born beforehand, in a territory where matter does not yet exist and forms can be tested without commitment to completion.

I call this space my Laboratory.

Here I develop digital studies that investigate rhythm, silence, repetition, transparency, atmosphere, and the permanence of form. These are experiences that broaden my visual repertoire and directly nourish my painting.

These images do not function as sketches nor do they intend to replace the pictorial work. They possess autonomy, but share the same question that runs through all my production: what remains when the image begins to disappear?
